Cider Enthusiasts day
If you want to learn to make traditional farmhouse cider, but don’t have any cider apples trees, then this day is for you - Saturday 11th October as part of the Big Apple weekend.
We will start at 10.00am at with an overview of cider making. You will than start making your own cider by picking the apples at a local orchard. These will be collected and you will start the process of washing, milling and pressing the apples. Participation is actively encouraged!
We will serve a lunch of locally-made produce to maintain energy levels.
We will also be pressing some of the apples for juice which will then be pasteurised. Each Enthusiast will take home 2 bottles apple juice, and 12L cider for fermenting at home, an airlock, and instructions on what to do next.
We aim to finish the day at 4.00pm
Cider making is an outdoor activity so Wellington boots are essential and waterproofs advisable (plus hat) – we provide everything else.
The cost is £65 per adult with a maximum of 10 adults per Enthusiast Day.
Booking is essential - call Deborah or Nigel on 01531 670713.
